Discover the magic of Swan Lake with the World Ballet Series
Ballet to the music of Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky
Formed in 1971 by Venezuelan dancer ex-pat Tina Ramirez, this New York-based dance company dedicates itself to preserving and celebrating the legacy of Latin dance, and the experiences of its Latin and Hispanic dancers, who make up the company. Having performed for more than two million people in the United States, Europe, and South America, they have brought the same recognition to their dancer as Alvin Ailey has done for black dancers.
With over 50 dancers representing 10 countries, the World Ballet Series is committed to staging the world's most cherished ballets, retaining the grand style, costumes, and sets that help to make them magical experiences for everyone! With Tchaikovsky's unforgettable score and iconic choreography, there is no finer example than Swan Lake, presented by the company on tour.
The Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra team up with the renowned Ballet Folklorico De Mexico de Amelia Hernandez for a joyful celebration of Mexican folk culture and history! The vibrancy of the region's folklore rivals that of any civilisation and, through seven wonderful pieces, the ensemble and orchestra take audiences on a journey through it, replete with stunning costumes and beautiful choreography.
Featuring spectacular sets and beautifully costumed dancers, the Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet is an annual treat for the whole family. Whimsical and imaginative storytelling blends with the richness of classical dance, dazzling costumes, soaring birds, giant puppets and a grand stage design to make this particular Nutcracker a unique holiday treat not to be missed!
Los Angeles Ballet bring beauty into the spring with two of ballet's pinnacle pieces, Stravinsky's perennial fantasy favorite Firebird and the George Balanchine original Serenade. With choreography by Yuri Possokhov, Firebird is based on Russian fairytales about a mythical bird that can be both a blessing and a curse to its owner.
First premiering in 2010, Pacific Festival Ballet's original production of Noah's Ark is a popular collaboration between its artistic director Kim Maselli and composer Eric Allaman which combines ballet, aerial choreography and multi-media projections to create the Biblical world of old! Following the Genesis story of Noah and his family, they must embark on a perilous journey to a new, safer world upon a huge Ark, bringing with them all sorts of animals, two by two.
