Being a novice to Gillian Welch's music led this old acoustic music lover to the wonderful musicianship and song writing ability of she and her partner, Dave Rawlings. Finding this duo at this stage of my life (I'm 67) has literally blown me away. I fell in love w/their stuff ! So much so, I took a sojourn to Cali. to see them live.1st to Santa Barb. which was wonderful ! The next night, to LA. and a fantastic old theater ! They must have got in a good night sleep, because they REALLY tore it up! Almost all the Almanac was performed, plus what I think were some new ones. The youngsters w/them were very talented, and Dave really knows how to get the best from them. I so admire Gillian being his backup after all the years he has done that for her.It was a Great venue, with no bad seats. Audience of all ages, even some kids.Dave's energy towards the end was fantastic ! He SOARED during their 2 encores ! The whole band seemed as in awe of his playing as we were. I will gladly go again !
