Why see A Streetcar Named Desire?

Operatic supernova Renee Fleming returns as troubled Southern floozy Blanche DuBois, in Andre Previn's faithful adaptation, presented in a semi-staged concert production, A Streetcar Named Desire for LA Opera. Streetcar will be conducted by Patrick Summers leading the LA Opera Orchestra.

Clinging desperately to a masquerade of Southern grace, Blanche DuBois invites herself into her sister?s cramped apartment, and her life, creating all the wrong kinds of sparks with her brutish brother-in-law Stanley. When dark secrets about Blanche?s past begin to emerge, her world comes apart at the seams in a shocking spiral of violence and madness.
