Sufjan Stevens at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion

Why see Sufjan Stevens?

Sufjan's Supergroup

Earlier this year, four acclaimed artists grouped together for one of 2017's most idiosyncratic releases. Planetarium is a grand suite of songs about the universe, created by indie music darling Sufjan Stevens, The National's Bryce Dessner, composer Nico Muhly and Sufjan's drummer James McAllister. Running 75 minutes long, the record veers from delicate balladry to bugged-out electronica, across tracks named 'Jupiter', 'Hailey's Comet' and 'Moon'. The project was birthed five years ago at a special performance at the Barbican Hall in London, and since then it's been radically re-worked and expanded upon.
