When the baby Aurora is born to a benevolent King and Queen, everybody is in a celebratory mood - all apart from the Dark Fairy, who was forgotten in the invitations. Casting a curse on the newborn to die by the pricking of her finger on a spinning wheel, the Dark Fairy departs.
Sixteen years later, and Aurora has grown into a beautiful and kind young lady; unfortunately the curse strikes one day during a huge party to celebrate her coming of age, and she falls into a death-like sleep for a hundred years. Will her beloved prince come to rescue her....?
Disney fans will most likely recognize some of the music in this ballet, as the score was directly based on Tchaikovsky's original work for the production.
