A Not So Happy Family

A precious family heirloom is up for grabs, but which family member deserves it most? That's the question posed at the centre of Joshua Harmon's scabrous black comedy Bad Jews, which runs at the Gil Cates Theatre until July 19. A broiling hour and a half of back-biting and verbal sparring, Bad Jews made a huge splash when it first debuted on Off-Broadway in 2012. Charles Isherwood of the New York Times praised its "delectably savage humour", and named it the "best comedy of the season."

Helming this Los Angeles staging is theater and television director Matt Shakman (Good People, Mad Men), while the cast includes Ari Brand, Molly Ephraim, Lili Fuller and Raviv Ullman.
