Why see Classic Quadrophenia?

we are the mods

The Who's windmilling guitarist brings his symphonic arrangement of the 1973 album to the US this summer for four very special dates that will feature Billy Idol, Alfie Boe and a full orchestra performing the expansive rock opera in all its glory (plus Eddie Vedder in Chicago only). A full narrative story, Quadrophenia follows the story of a young working class Mod, Jimmy, and his search for meaning amongst the culture clash of 1960s Britain and was influential in reviving Mod culture, leading to the iconic film in 1979.

The second of The Who's rock operas after 1969's Tommy, Quadrophenia features writing exclusively by Townshend that captures the feelings of the young at the time. Formerly premiering in London, Classic Quadrophenia adds a new dimension that will attract pop and classical music fans alike to the ambitious material.

Classic QUADROPHENIA will Live Forever!

It was epic brilliance! And Eddie Vedder too!!!!???? Alfie BOE was superb! As was Billy Idol! I loved the venue, had a great seat for a great cause! But I honestly found the audience a bit lame! Alfie BOE had to implore the crowd to do their bits....Move, Sing, Applaud, Clap, FEEL....! I'm from Chicago, so I can say this! The Pops were great, wished it had been a touch louder! Some guys behind me made a comment when they saw the orchestral stage setup, asking 'how is Pete going to have any room to jump about?' I'm not sure people understood what they were experiencing! MR. TOWNSHEND and his wife, Rachel Fuller, who arranged the score, left us PETE'S LEGACY! To be cherished, played....by anyone....to entice the next generations, to he remembered! This show was the single most epic event of my life, besides seeing THE WHO HITS 50, in 2015! Thank you PETE, RACHEL, ALFIE, BILLY and EDDIE!!!! I will never forget it! GO #TEENCANCERAMERICA ... Classic Quadrphenia at Tanglewood

What a show! I have never been in or part of such a enthusiastic/raucous crowd at Tanglewood. Yes I missed Keith Moon's frenetic drums and I would suggest that the Pops focus more on the percussion, and yes I missed some wailing electric guitar, but Alfie Bow as fabulous and the orchestra was very, very tight. For the long dreary ride home, in the rain this AM, I am still humming and rocking to myself. All I can say what fun!! ... Read more
