The Airborne Toxic Event

It all started with a single song, as it usually does, that skyrocketed The Airborne Toxic Event to fame and helped them become one of the most successful indie bands to emerge from LA's music scene over the last few years. The track in question, 'Sometime Around Midnight', makes it easy to understand just why they've been so successful - its a perfect example of their signature sound, namely cleverly crafted lyrics and beautifully blended orchestral rock.

The Airborne Toxic Event was founded by novelist and songwriter Mikel Jollett and drummer Daren Taylor in 2006, who later recruited the four other band members. Jollett took the bands name from a passage in the novel 'White Noise' by Don DeLillo, explaining in one interview how his personal circumstances at the time him and Taylor formed the band were like an 'airborne toxic event'... an unavoidable catalyst for change that altered his life for ever.
