Why see Annie?

Leaping Lizards, Annie's Back!

Starring Lea Salonga and Megan Hilty!

Based on the Little Orphan Annie comic strip, the iconic story about a courageous little girl with hair that matches her fiery attitude has enjoyed numerous revivals in film and stage format over the years. The 1977 Tony-winning vintage musical is set to make a triumphant return to the glamorous Hollywood Bowl stage as the star annual production of the LA Philharmonic's 97th summer season at the historic venue.

Helmed by Tony nominated stage director Michael Arden, the heart-warming tale features an iconic score by Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, one that lives on in musical theatre history through classic songs Hard Knock Life and Tomorrow. Featuring a star studded cast with Tony award winning Lea Salonga, Tony nominee Megan Hilty and Wicked's Ana Gasteyer!

Set in the 1930s, Annie is a feisty young orphan who uses her wits to survive in the miserable orphanage run by the villainous Miss Hannigan. When she is chosen to spend a Christmas at wealthy industrialist Oliver Warbuck's mansion, a life-changing adventure ensues.

We sat in the balcony and the voices were so loud I couldn't understand all of the lyrics especially when the children were singing. I don't know if it was because we were in the balcony or not. Very enjoyable afternoon. I wondered why there was a ventriloquist on the radio. That struck my funny bone (old humor) and I laughed about it later. The loud voices was the reason for the 4 instead of 5. ... Read more
