Why see Elvis Costello & Ben Folds?

In a very special double bill, The Hollywood Bowl presents Elvis Costello and Ben Folds, both backed for their sets by the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Elvis Costello is the the ultimate musical polymath, having explored a diverse range of genres over his 30 year career. After realising debut record My Aim Is True in 1977, the British musician made waves in America, where he made his name as angry young man with The Attractions, where he even managed to get banned from Saturday Night Live for ten years. Luckily Costello's music is worth it, ranging from jangling, joyful anthems, to literate narratives that keep you involved to the last note. Accompaniment from the Los Angeles Philharmonic is just the latest in a list of collaborations with everyone from Burt Bacarach to Fall out Boy.

Ben Folds is the alternative rock front-man of Ben Folds Five. As as solo artist, he's seen great acclaim for his varied output, that continues to evolve with every release. Collaborating with everyone from Regina Spektor to William Shatner, his music has always managed to charm and inspire, with a good deal of humour and everyday observation. Most recently he has contributed to the hit show Community and has been a judge on NBC's a capella competition, The Sing Off
