The jazz legend returns to the Hollywood Bowl for a night of classics
Ten-time Grammy Award-winning, fleet fingered Jazz legend George Benson headlines a night of masterful music as part of the Hollywood Bowl's Jazz at The Bowl Summer series. The guitar virtuoso will be joined by soulful songstress Ledisi and her gravity-defying R&B vocals, as well as vocal jazz aficionado Jose James who'll be performing new arrangements of Bill Withers classics in honour of his 80th birthday.
Hailed as one of the greatest jazz guitarists of all time, George Benson has a set of vocal pipes to match. His smooth, rich tenor and distinctive, accomplished playing proved instrumental in the living legend's crossover success, wether turning his hand to traditional jazz, smooth contemporary or R&B. No stranger to the Bowl's historic stage, Benson calls to mind his own musical idols when he performs - his veteran sense of showmanship and poise evokes the golden era of swing, whilst his considerable talents put him firmly in line with Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway to name a few.
