Los Angeles Philharmonic: Tchaikovsky at Hollywood Bowl

Why see Los Angeles Philharmonic: Tchaikovsky?

Part of the annual summer season at the Hollywood Bowl, this year The LA Philharmonic celebrate Russian composer Tchaikovsky's music, with a little help from some of California's brass, drum corps and color guard of top California bands, ending with his exhilarating 1812 Overture. And of course, no night out at the Bowl will complete without cannon and pyrotechnics!

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's music is inextricably associated with the great romantic ballets including Swan Lake and of course, that holiday favorite, The Nutcracker. The 1812 Overture is famed for its use of cannons, and was written in 1880 to celebrate Russia's defense against Napoleon's marauding Grande Armee in 1812.Widely regarded as a piece for grand spectacle, it is a perennial favorite throughout America, and is usually played during the Fourth of July celebrations.

The Spectacular will also feature Tchaikovsky's Marche slave, Violin Concerto and Suite from Swan Lake.
