Why see FFS (Franz Ferdinand & Sparks)?

Franz Ferdinand + Sparks + lots of fun = FFS!

Questionable collaborations are nothing new, (here's looking at you, Jacko and Paul McCartney) but fantastically unique and ridiculously entertaining ones are fairly rare. Luckily Scottish indie pioneers Franz Ferdinand chose well, nay, perfectly when they asked the Mael brothers to join them in March 2015, thus fusing Sparks and Franz into one ecstatically theatrical electro-rock supergroup. America, prepare to be won over by FFS!

Collaborations do work

Despite the title of their debut single 'Collaborations Don't Work' (a deliciously meta look at the pitfalls of attempting to wrangle delicate musicians egos,) FFS does work very well. A clear influence on the (slightly) younger band, Sparks lend their soaring falsettos in inimitable style against Franz' heavier beats and deep vocals, but never at one second does it feel out of time. Whether working together on songs like 'collaborations, or the equally wonderful 'Johnny Delusion' or performing eachother's hits, one thing is incredibly clear as you listen to their rich, clever and hilarious output, why didn't they do it sooner?
