This brings us to Hanks, the big-ticket draw, and I'm happy to report that he lives up to all expectations in his Los Angeles stage debut.

Why see Henry IV?
TOM HANKS STEPS INTO SHAKESPEARE
Forsooth! Tom Hanks is set to make his L.A stage debut as Sir John Falstaff, with the Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles' Henry IV.
Taking place at the outdoor Japanese Garden on the West Los Angeles VA Campus, both parts have been condensed by Tony-winning director Daniel Sullivan making this a dream opportunity to see Hanks tackle The Bard's most braggadocios comedic villain.
Who is Falstaff?
A part of five of Shakespeare's plays but only appearing in three, Falstaff is one of the most iconic parts in the theatrical repertoire. Bawdy, drunken and cowardly, the knight's appearance in Henry IV, sees him run amok with the errant Prince Hal, spending their days drinking and scheming amongst thieves, until Hal decides to sober up and become the heir his father wants. Falstaff has no such foibles and delights in being a rogue, until Hal becomes King and ultimately rejects him and is low-life pals.
Marvellously juicy with many facets, we can't wait to see what Hanks brings to the role in this exciting new production!
