Now in its 42nd year, these totally public-voted awards for the best of film and television is set for a star-studded ceremony that you can be part of! The only awards determined by the fans, the potential nominees are determined by national ratings averages, box-office grosses, music sales and People's Choice own data. In an age where everything is determined by popular vote, for 40 years People's Choice demonstrated how ahead of the times it was. Starting out with a modest 14 categories, changing tastes have seen it expand to a staggering 40+ categories.

The 2016 ceremony will be hosted by comic actress Jane Lynch, adding her own brand of acerbic quips to the proceedings. Lynch herself is no stranger to these fan-voted awards, having been lauded with four nominations and a win for Favorite TV Comedy Actress in 2011, for her breakout role as snarky cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester in Glee.
