Why see RENT?

No other day but today

Based on Pucchini's La Boheme and the experiences of creator, the late Jonathan Larson, rock musical RENT is a ground-breaking look at a group of artists living and loving in New York City's East Village against the tumult of the HIV/AIDS outbreak. It opened on Broadway in 1996 and went on to run for 12 years, launching the careers of many musical theatre performers, including Idina Menzel.

A poet, a musician, a lawyer, a drag queen - their lives are entwined as they fight to survive in the Big Apple and, in some cases, fight for their mortality in the shadow of one of the worst epidemics of all time. In the end, friendship, love and the ability to maintain their individuality, keeps these troubled souls together, away from isolation.

A sure-fire pop culture phenomenon, RENT teaches us to work through life with courage, living fully in the moment.

Rent

We are Rent fans and have seen the play over 20 times. Many of the productions were amateurish but we took a chance anyway because we love the show so much. This (20th anniversary Pantages) production is the best in over 10 years. The cast tore the house down last night (Jan 25) We are going back Sunday and it aint cheap..but that's how good it is. They are sold out but if you can find a ticket..go...go...go!! P.S. Not a good play for kids..eat at Delphines across the street before play! ... Read more

Just saw rent at Stratford last night. Had only seen the movie previously. I found this production very enjoyable and powerful in moments. At the onset Stratford Mark was more engaging than movie Mark and knocked it out of the park with the tango number and everything else. Maureen is tough if not impossible to replicate but I loved Stratford Maureen and Stratford Joanne in all their numbers.. I particularly loved Stratford Mimi...Movie Mimi fell flat for me but Stratford Mimi was vibrant portrayed issues and had a much better singing voice. Stratford Tom Collins was excellent. Just loved this production much more than the movie. Thank you all for your effort. ... Read more
