Maximum Metal

Thrash metal giants Slayer have never been afraid of generating controversy, their music taking in one taboo subject after another, but they're also undoubtedly one of the genre's most important acts. The band emerged in the late 80, and with Tom Araya leading the line on vocals, they haven't let up since. They aren't due to record any music until next year, but they have a hugely impressive and punishing back catalogue to draw from.

Joining Slayer on this tour are fellow modern metal greats Lamb of God, who have announced they'll take a long hiatus following these dates. It's not surprising, given that they've been constantly on the road or in the studio Randy Blythe was acquitted of manslaughter back in 2013. Rounding out the bill are Poland's extreme metal outfit Behemoth.
