Dapper Killers frontman Brandon Flowers is touring in support of his second solo effort The Desired Effect. Featuring the tracks Can't Deny My Love and Never Get You Right, it brings Flowers love of 80s pop right to the forefront, shooting for big romantic choruses embedded in glossy production with stunning success.
Flowers first came to prominence as lead singer for The Killers, who arrived in a tornado of hype in 2004 with their debut album Hot Fuss. A glittering mixture of Cure-indebted New Wave synths and Duran Duran size hooks, the record went down as something of a modern indie classics and produced a whole load of tracks (Mr Brightside, Somebody Told Me) that are practically seared into this generation's consciousness.
