Why see Los Angeles Philharmonic: Alice in Wonderland?
Curiouser and curiouser
Journey down the rabbit hole with The Los Angeles Philharmonic, for a version of Alice in Wonderland unlike any that you've never seen before. This is the West Coast premiere of Unsuk Chin's operatic re-telling of Lewis Carroll's surreal masterpiece. Written in collaboration with David Henry Hwang, this eye-popping re-imagining, replete with grotesque costumes and spectacular choreography, debuted seven years ago at The Bavarian State Opera.
Alice in Wonderland is part of the LA Phil's series of In/SIGHT concerts. These combine grandiose musical pieces with equally grandiose visuals, with huge screens and projections adding a brand new element to the Walt Disney Hall. London-based artist Netia Jones provides Alice's multimedia aspect, as well as directing.
