Why see Los Angeles Philharmonic: John Williams?

A Night of Movie Magic

The Opening Night Gala at the Walt Disney Concert Hall is always a grand occasion, and this year the LA Phil are using the night to pay tribute to John Williams. Now in his 82nd year, John Williams is undoubtedly the world's greatest film music composer, with his scores for the likes of Star Wars, Jurassic Park and Superman becoming just as embedded in popular culture as the movies themselves. He is a long standing friend of the LA Philharmonic, having conducted them countless times and opened many a previous Opening Gala himself.

Gustavo Dudamel will conduct the orchestra, which will feature frequent Williams collaborator Itzhak Perlman on violin. Included in the night's program are pieces from Schindler's List, Catch Me If You Can and Star Wars.
