A breath of fresh air on the conducting circuit, maestra Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla at 29 years old is currently the Music Director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in the UK, and was also a Dudamel Fellow with the Phil during the 2012/13 season. This mixed triple program features Mahler's Symphony No. 4 and a guest appearance from veteran violinist Gidon Kremer. The program kicks off playing Messiaen's Un sourire (A Smile); Weinberg's Violin Concerto, and concluding with Mahler's Symphony No. 4.

In addition to Kremer, the evening will feature guest soprano Janai Brugger, the 2012 winner of Placido Domingo's Operalia and recipient of the 2016 Marian Anderson Award.
