Why see Youssou N'Dour?

Youssou N'Dour returns!

Maybe the most famous African musical artist in the world, The Grammy Award winning Youssou N'Dour's influence stretches far outside the realms of music. Infact, he has spent much of the last few years in politics. While his 2012 Presidential bid was unsuccessful, he was subsequently appointed Senegal's Minister of Tourism. Alongside his political work, N'Dour is tireless campaigner for and promoter of his home country and for a more balanced representation of Islam in the Western World, as portrayed in the 2008 documentary I Bring What I Love.

As for his music, over the course of his 30 year career, he's been an innovative and experimental melder of hip-hop and modern pop elements with his native Serer music. To Western audiences he's still probably best known for 7 Seconds, his collaboration with Nenah Cherry which topped the charts across much of Europe in 1994. He's also worked with Sting, Dido and Paul Simon, and was a key performer in 2005's Live 8 concerts.

This year sees the Grammy Award winners much anticipated return to Carnegie Hall! Make sure you don't miss out on the unforgettable experience.
