Why see The Flaming Lips?

oh yoshimi!

Psychedelic provocateurs The Flaming Lips are no strangers to the weird and wonderful. With their astral soundscapes peppered with whimsy and humor to their Merry Prankster-esque on-stage antics, the band has become a cult favorite since the release of their first studio album in the 1980s. Don't miss the band as they continue to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their seminal record, 'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots' into spring 2024!

Described by Rolling Stone as having "a voice that evokes Neil Young on nitrous oxide," singer Wayne Coyne takes the moniker of frontman to an entirely new level. During large festival shows, he makes an entrance by descending from an alien mother ship in a bubble and floats across the audience as he performs. The concerts also feature lasers, projected screens, balloons, and confetti cannons.

What a monumental performance. I would go watch that show over and over again. I appreciate the conversation between songs as you get a glimpse into what is important to the artist. 10/10 would recommend. They never disappoint. ... Read more

Musically excellent

Having seen The Flaming Lips on several occasions I will agree that the gaps in the show & the repeated exhortations to scream were out of character & slightly uncomfortable at times. However in my opinion musically speaking Wayne & the band sounded fantastic. The background imagery added colorful dynamic visual layers to the performance. Overall an exhilarating joyful celebration that everyone in my vicinity (myself included) seemed to enjoy immensely. Very welcome after a rather extended period of isolation. Also a shout out to Particle Kid, the opening act, a great set from a group I’d never heard of but will now be following. ... Read more
