George Balanchine’s Nutcracker Ballet Dorothy Chandler 2017

Just saw the new Nutcracker at the Music Center/Dorothy Chandler and all I can say is WOW! Every year I see whichever is the most highly acclaimed Nutcracker Ballet in town and this one lived surpassed its hype. It is truly a “must see.” The child dancers were the best I’ve ever seen. I was truly impressed with the technical skill of these little ballerinas, particularly in the first act where even the tiniest children, dressed in gorgeous costumes of gold, mint, and other vibrant hues, acted out the scenes with joy and also danced the highly technical choreography along with the bigger kids and the professionals. Goosebumps! Everything in the 2nd Act, from the little angels seemingly floating across the stage to the mind-blowing technical skills of the Sugar Plum Fairy, made me want more and more. A truly unforgettable performance and without question the best Nutcracker Ballet in So Cal. ... Read more
