Why see Beck?

A Legend, Live!

Beck's music first emerged in the early 1990s, with his anthemic 'Loser' rocketing him to star status in a matter of weeks from his struggling artist roots. Along with that came a bidding war from record labels and, of course, talk that he'd forsaken his anti-folk roots for the easy life of being a music label's creation. Beck's fifth album, Odelay (1996), proved that to be very wrong and won two Grammy awards.

Twenty years and several studio albums later, Beck is still seen as one of the leading singer-songwriters of our time. Though he has evolved as an artist and refined his artistic interests over the years, his music continues to draw from an eclectic mix of influences and sampling and has the same clever, often self-referential lyrics he first became loved for.

Beck at MSG

I am a long-time fan of Beck and he did not disappoint at MSG last night (7/19/18). I could not believe it was the first time he ever played that venue!! He started with great energy and kept the pace up even with a few acoustic numbers from his dreamy Morning Phase. All from his COLORS set really brought those great recordings to life. He is super talented and a great live performer. I always feel happy after seeing him. ... Read more

5 stars for Beck 1 star for the venue

I am a Beck fanatic. If I were 20 years younger I would be a groupie, no doubt. This was my ninth Beck concert and by far one of my favorites of his performances. The set list was amazing, the band was tight and Beck has never sounded better. He threw some love at the Philly crowd and the band introduction with the fern was a highlight of the night. Jenny Lewis filled in for Glass Animals and that was a bonus. But..the venue sucked. I understood when I bought the tickets that it is standing room only. You can rent chairs but the only thing they are good for is saving more space. We stood near the back for better sound, but for me, being a very short woman, that was a trade off. Honestly if you're under 6' and not in the first few rows, you will see very little. Thankfully the weather was perfect. Bottom line- Beck is boss. I will always be one of the first in line to buy tickets when he comes our way-but maybe I'll think twice if it is at Festival Pier. ... Read more
