Why see Patton Oswalt?

Returning to the road

This multi-talented entertainer has seen astronomical success since starting his stand-up comedy in the late Eighties. Commonly recognised for his comic foil Spencer Olchin in the sitcom The King of Queens, he has also voiced the lead character Remy in Pixar's Ratataouille. His humor has been characterised as "righteous anger", especially in his earlier material, but now as an A-list comic, he can command an audience's total attention even when using less energy or telling longer stories that are punctuated by fewer jokes.

Oswalt makes observations in a myriad of sources; from pop culture trivia such as comic super villains (see his Batman and Joker stuff), 1980s glam metal to deeper social issues like American excess, materialism, foreign policy and religion, as well as his atheism and experiences of grief.

How lucky were we? !!!

We lucked into seeing the Patton Oswalt show tonight. Not hugely promoted. We had very close seats. We were able to see his expressions and emotions so amazingly close up. He did not disappoint. It was, as usual, thought provoking and hysterical. But seriously. The guys just gets into certain aspects of culture and wrings them out in a way that is more than funny. I laugh during the show but it’s different. I would say 80% of the performance was rock solid. Gold. Killed it. 20% could be skimmed. Exactly. He was working on his material. We were so lucky to see it. Thanks Patton. Damn you are a master. And still human. We love you. ... Read more

One of the best, period ... for years and still

There is such a stark contrast between very good and great stand-up comedians. Patton Oswalt has been and continues to be in that top 1%. His smart, sharp, and witty material and unique observations are met with perfect pace, timing, and delivery. He can turn a trip to Denny's with his daughter into about 10-15 minutes of non-stop comedy gold. The theater is just beautiful. Great location. Easy parking, in and out, as the garage is right across and under the street. ... Read more
