The inspiring social justice icon Malala Yousafzai discusses her new book, live in conversation
In an era where 'alternative facts' trump science, seemingly sensational headlines prove they aren't too far from the truth and social unrest reigns supreme, it's easy to forget the luminaries that fight for justice and equality amidst the turmoil. Malala Yousafzai is one such shining light. Born in 1997, the determined young social activist began speaking publicly about education rights in her native Pakistan in 2008 and started a blog for BBC Urdu that detailed her life under Taliban occupation in 2009. Rising in prominence, this led to a shocking assassination attempt at the hands of her oppressors in 2012. Miraculously, she survived, and uncowed by the experience, continues to campaign for education for all to this day.
Named on of Time's 100 Most Influential People in the World, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate has put her powerful thoughts down on paper, culminating in the New York Times best sellers 'I Am Malala' and 'Malala's Magic Pencil'.
