The World Premiere Of The Punk Rock Historical Epic

The Geffen Playhouse's groundbreaking 2019/20 theatre season continues with the world premiere commission of Revenge Song, a musical comedy romp created by Vietnamese American playwright Qui Nguyen in partnership with the Obie Award winning Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company. 

Filled with the company's trademark graphic novel-esque, superhero comic visual style and a punk rock score, the hotly anticipated historical production fosters fascinating conversation about gender and sexuality through the lens of the life and times of Julie d'Aubigny. At the comedy's heart lies the 17th century queer opera singer and swordswoman's journey of self discovery amidst a whirlwind of daring behaviour, duels and lovers, marking her a woman apart back in her day and in our own.
