Bringing classic K-pop to a new generation

South Korean K-Pop star Youngtak embarks on his first ever tour of North America starting in January, bringing a classic form of K-Pop - "Trot" - to this generation of K-Pop lovers. The singer, actor and TV Personality from Mungyeong released his first album in 2007, but finally found wide success in 2020 after his appearances on TV Chosun's "Mr Trot" and "Romantic Call Center" TV shows, in which his performances went viral and his biggest hit song, "Jjin-iya", was born.

Youngtak also found viral fame amongst fans of global sensation BTS, when his performance of Jjin-iya at the 2020 Melon Music Awards had them drawing comparisons between the lyrics of the song and the name of one of their idols, Jin, leading to the search term "Jin Jin Jin" trending on twitter.
