Why see Los Angeles Philharmonic - Dudamel Leads Khachaturian?
armenian delights
Los Angeles Philharmonic's masterful leader Gustavo Dudamel conducts the orchestra through a stirring program of the music of Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Joined by pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, the orchestra gives a rousing rendition of the composer's passionate Piano Concerto, as well as the Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia from his Spartacus ballet. Rounding off the program is Janacek's Sinfonietta and the world premiere of Thomas Ades' Tower.
Venezuelan-born Gustavo Dudamel gained his first music director of the Venezuelan national youth opera, before becoming assistant to Sir Simon Rattle in 2003. As well as the LA Philharmonic he also currently directs the Paris Opera and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra.
