Imagine Dragons at Banc of California Stadium

Why see Imagine Dragons?

They're radioactive

In a world where any teenager with a webcam can become a rock star then a has-been all in the space of a few months, Imagine Dragons are a refreshing return to the tried-and-true traditions of great rock and roll. In fact, rather than posting a video to Youtube or participating in the conveyer belt competitions of talent shows, these guys owe their initial exposure to a last-minute gig at the 2009 Bite of Las Vegas Festival, when Train's frontman fell sick just prior to the band's set. Imagine Dragons were called to fill in and they performed to a crowd of more than 26,000 people, to much critical acclaim.

Las Vegas-based indie rockers Imagine Dragons formed in Utah in 2009. Like their desert-born stadium rock contemporaries The Killers, Imagine Dragons blend engaging, synth-based dance-pop with emotionally charged, Brit-pop-inspired alt-rock. Citing the likes of Arcade Fire, Nirvana, Muse, The Beatles, Paul Simon, and Harry Nilsson as some of the band's key artistic influences, lead Dan Reynolds credits acts like Foster the People and Mumford & Sons for leading the way to bring alternative pop music to its new level of recent commercial success over the past five years.

Best show ever!!

We had seats in section 6, which is where band moved to when they moved off the main stage. This show was so uplifting and joyful that I never wanted it to end! If Imagine Dragons had scheduled a 2nd or 3rd or even 4th night I would have wanted to be there for all of them. I've been going to concerts since 1978 and this was THE BEST EVER!! ... Read more

Great Music, Odd Venue

We really enjoyed the music bottom line. I thought the venue was way too small for this concert. The amphitheater was packed beyond its limits - too many people. The set up cuts off the audience response to the music b/c of the structure over the seating area. If it had been played at the Great American Ballpark across the river, you would have felt the audience feedback to the stage area. It also limited what ID could do to engage the crowd. I'm unsure why this location was selected but I think it took away from the potential of the experience. The headliners are too popular now to select a venue this small. The music was great but the performance and crowd engagement could have been much more. ... Read more
