Tyler Perrys Madea's Farewell at Dolby Theatre

Why see Tyler Perrys Madea's Farewell?

Bid A Fond Farewell To The Meddling Matriarch

For nearly two decades, Mabel Earlene 'Medea' Simmons has entertained audiences on stage and screen in over 10 feature films and 21 of theatre shows with her hilarious meddling, hijinks and antics, becoming a beloved part of families across America in her own right. Now the multi-talented producer, writer and actor Tyler Perry is set to don her signature gray wig, glasses and nondescript floral dress for the last time during the 'Madea's Farewell Play Tour', saying a fond goodbye to the tough old lady with a brand new story chock full of laughs and life lessons.

Exploring themes of race, poverty, love, sexual assault and the ties that bind, the popular Madea franchise began with the 199 play I Can Do Bad All By Myself, which first introduced the world to the incorrigible, curmudgeonly, vindictive and completely loveable matriarch who would do anything for her family. The farewell play sees a joyful family reunion go totally awry when Madea and her crew travel to Georgia to plan a funeral, where skeletons fall out of the closet and family secrets bubble to the surface.

The stage awareness of the cast, going off script and the spontaneity was more than expected. It was a great send off of a great character and the main cast was more than amazing and who knew Cora could blow those lungs like that??!?!? ... Read more
