LA Opera - Satyagraha at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion

Why see LA Opera - Satyagraha?

Company premiere

Don't miss the company premiere of 21st Century minimalist icon Philip Glass's Satyagraha part of his Portrait trilogy celebrating the revolutionary ideas of extraordinary men. Performed entirely in Sanskrit, this gripping opera tells the story of Gandhi's early years in South Africa where he formulated his concept of nonviolent resistance in the face of injustice, an event that would not just change his life, but reverberate the world over.

Replete with his signature minimalist themes and melodies, Satyagraha is different from your usual opera, with a striking soundscape that grips you until the very end. Visually, the production excels completing this exceptional theatrical experience.
