Customer Reviews for Los Angeles Opera - Aida

Aida
Not your grandfather’s traditional Aida but beautifully performed and orchestrated as well as strikingly original. No kitschy half naked Nubian dancers or nubile ladies in peekaboo outfits, elephants, cast of thousands, etc. that people expect to see in a grand opera. The music is and should be the star and it’s respectfully focused throughout. See it with an open mind and not done prefabricated expectation. You’ll be surprised, engaged, and moved by the story and the singing characterizations.
AIDA
Best rendition of Saturday Night Live "Bad Ballet" Great singers, terrible directing and staging
Aida
Sad that such a magnificent opera has been so greatly diminished. Singers did a super job but the production itself was painful to watch. I hope producers are not so irreverent to masterpieces in the future
Worst interpretation of a Grand Opera
The worst ever interpretation of Aida Opera. Completely in wrong epoc. Male soldiers dancy very feminine ballet ( could not stop laughing ! ) Kid dancers dancing Russian dance. The cheapest staging of a grand Opera ! Did I miss something ?
