For Piano and Harpo at Falcon Theatre

Why see For Piano and Harpo?

A New play by Dan Castellaneta

Simpsons' veteran Dan Castellaneta's new play brings the life of actor, composer and musician Oscar Levant to the West Coast stage when it premieres in February, helmed by Stefan Novinski. With Castellaneta starring as the troubled artist, he is joined by JD Cullum, Deb Lacusta, Gail Matthius, Phil Proctor, and Jonathan Stark in supporting roles. A study of mental illness and fame, this new black biographical comedy is produced by Laugh Then Think.

Known for his caustic sense of humor, Levant was as well-known for his witticisms as he was for his prodigious work in music. Now in this new play, a less familiar part of Levant's life comes to the fore as he finds himself locked up in the psych ward at Mt. Sinai Hospital thanks to his demons, and in particular his addiction to prescription drugs. Facing a battle to save his marriage, he moves in with his close friend Harpo Marx, whilst struggling with hallucinations of George Gershwin.
