Why see Los Lobos?

The Wolves Are Running Once More

Fusing good old fashioned rock and roll with brown-eyed soul, cumbia, boleros and norteno, Tex-Mex outfit Los Lobos (which translates to The Wolves) first gained commercial success and an international following when their cover of Ritchie Valens' La Bamba hit the top of the charts around the world in 1987. Experimenting with multiple genres over the decades, their wide-ranging sound has flourished in a variety of styles, from acoustic ballads to experimental rock. Whilst they may be reinvent themselves constantly, their definitive fusion of latin and American music remains at the creative core.

Formed in an East Los Angeles high school in 1973, the band began exploring the Mexican folk music of their upbringing and worked their way up the ranks, playing weddings, parties and Mexican restaurants around the city. When they discovered the free-spirited energy of LA's punk scene, they developed a fervent following before signing and beginning a stellar professional career that would span over forty years. Don't miss the living legends in their natural habitat as they hit the road on tour!

gruene hall …..

saw them at the heights theatre the night before with no caesar and they didn’t even mention where he was (awol) I guess lol …..an east texas band nuevo was good and the lobos played with them and vice versa making up for no caesar …..the next night I’m up at gruene hall and caesar is back (not awol lol)….whoever was midfloor on the mix board didn’t seem to exist but the band quickly fixed things various times but you could tell the sound wasn’t like it was the night before in houston has was it for nuevo but nuevo only played a 30 minute set and lobos about 76 minutes. I guess I was spoiled both nights 2 weeks ago at red rocks which was the final 2 nights on the wheels of soul tour with the tedeschi trucks band. There were no sound issues those nights and they were on fire with the TTB band and gabe dixon. Now I need to get to NorCal to see them at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. Can you hear me NewWest Records lol ... Read more

Great, but who was that young guitarist at the end?

They are a very welcoming group, obviously. I think that young guy was with the opening act the last time we saw them at the Boulder Theater. And, he doesn't fit their sound. Just loud and not in the beat. Nick Forster was a fine, respectful guest, but that younger guitarist just kept playing way past a respectful solo. We love the core band, and we enjoyed the show! Wasn't sure how the balcony would be, but sound was good. Needed binoculars to see detail, but my husband didn't even want them. Everywhere there are good seats! ... Read more

Los Lobos 2020

My 6th time seeing this band. Always full of familiar music and a couple not heard for years. The odd thing was no Cesar Rosas and no mention of him. I'm curious to know what's up. ... Read more
