Boring but Excellent Musically

3/5

Nora Jones is a huge talent and her band was excellent. She sounded great but lacked warmth and chattiness us Bostonians expect. I kept looking at my watch wondering when she would do Don't Know Why I Didn't Come. Her song choices were not amongst the best as they dragged and you never knew when they would end. For musical quality I would give it 5 stars but performance wise I think a smaller more intimate venue would have been better.

Jesus band as opener

This was the most offensive experience. The opening band for Nora Jones was a Christian group that sang Jesus songs for a half an hour. I am fueled by indignation that in a country where Christian values are being imposed on the women of this country that I would buy a ticket for a Nora Jones concert that I assumed was non secular and be subjected to 45 minutes of religious music. This was offensive and off putting.

Red Rocks was the best part

She sounded beautiful and that didn’t disappoint, but we could have just listened to the CD at home. There was no interaction or warmth. She comes off as aloof and ambivalent tgat there is an audience. Half of the venue left mid concert. It was a steady stream out.

Not worth the money

Like the artist's music but dull on stage. Never even said "hello Pittsburgh" (not sure if she knew where she was), never said anything positive or about other musicians on stage, never said anything about her songs (e.g., explain inspiration), only engage the audience once for a few words. Lame light show and lame 2 song encore. Didn't improvise much at all. I was hoping when she plugged in the electic guitar that she would then liven up. Nope, just played one song w/ it and never jammed. Possibly the most boring concert I've ever seen since 35 years of concert-going. Paid around $400 for really good seats and actually enjoyed the warm-up comedian more than Ms. Jones.

Singing was great. Loved that.No showmanship. Introduced each band member after every couple of songs. Did it when the audience was still clapping.Could not hear their names. She was not even intoduced at the start. We were sitting in the back and didn't even know it was her at first. She never said hi , bye or anything at the end. Didn't know it was the end til the lights came on. No interaction with the audience at all.Still like her though.

Snooze fest

Love listening to her music, she is a great songwriter, but that's where the kudos end. Nothing wrong with the musical performance by her and her bandmates (other than a few sloppy endings). The show was boring. Actually, not really sure I should even call it a show. It was four people playing some music, as if we were not even there. More ... ANY interaction with the ticket paying audience would have made it a better experience. Never have I ever looked at my watch at a concert (and that was only 35 minutes in. Will keep buying her albums, but will never pay to see her perform again. Sad.
