Raconteurs Vancouver Show #2

The Raconteurs put on a fabulous show on Saturday night, they were all great and Jack White was his usual incredible self and contributed 150% to the show....it was super loud and my ears are still ringing the next day. Awesome performance by everyone. Could not hear the vocals very well in the opening act and could not hear the name of the group but they too were great and especially so since they lost some band members at the border.

Just got better and better

Seriously an amazing concert. I could use a million words to describe it but it would never make you understand how awesome it was. The Raconteurs in concert are better than their recordings. Jack White takes center stage without even trying but it would be totally wrong to discount the band as a whole in any way. Saw Jack White on tour for Lazaretto and he was great then but I have to say on stage as a band member is where he truly shines. It could not have been nearly the performance it was without Brendan Benson, Jack Lawerence and Patrick Keeler. Patrick Keeler in particular was so much fun to watch. Excellent technique and feel also clearly in his natural element on stage. Jack White was transcendent on Blue Veins. Not a song I loved in the recording but live it could not possibly be better. If you have a chance to see the Raconteurs GO, even if the only song you know is Steady as She Goes, which is a not their best song. You absolutely will not be disappointed, unless, of course, you don't know anything about music.

Saw the Raconteurs Sept 5 in NY. A day later my ears are still slightly ringing and I don't mean that in a good way. I like my hearing. I've loved the Raconteurs since the beginning. Their first and second cd blew me away, the latest not sure yet. It's great listening to their music on cd, mp3, Spotify etc is. But since when did they need to crank up the volume so high similar to a heavy metal concert. Instruments and vocals both were distorted and not in a good way. Their intensity was great, Jack White so full of energy. Brendans voice excellent, thundering drums. but I think you would never listen to that music at those levels by choice. It was a great live experience. And if I didn't see them live I would be left listening to others raving reviews and I would always feel like i'm missing out on something big. Stlll love them ! and the ringing is almost gone.

Over the Top Loud in St. Augustine

One music critic said "The Raconteurs prefer to experiment on stage, checking the pop music sensibilities at the door. In person, everything is louder. Their guitars are more distorted, their drums more thunderous, their bass heavier, and their solos more epic and towering than could ever be captured in the studio. The live performance bares little resemblance to the album." For me, this was too true. So loud that people near us got up and left after the third song. My ears are still ringing the next day. Distortion so extreme that I had a hard time recognizing songs that I have heard hundreds of times. I don't expect a faithful rendition of the the album, but let's not confuse amplified distortion for live creativity. On the positive side, they brought a ton of energy. I love the Amphitheatre. Bring your earplugs and enjoy the show.
