Why see Cagney?
West Coast Premiere
After a successful run Off-Broadway, Cagney makes its west coast premiere in LA. Created by and starring the unbelievably talented Robert Creighton, this tap-heavy musical traces the career of Hollywood's most famous tough guy, James Cagney, following his rise from the world of vaudeville through the Hollywood ranks. Packed full of stunning dance sequences, this small-scale musical is a bright and tightly written look at Cagney's off screen life, and his troubled relationship with his on screen persona.
What is Cagney About?
Known to modern audiences as the quippy gangster from movies like Angels With Dirty Faces, White Heat and Public Enemy. James Cagney began his career in vaudeville. This musical follows his story, from humble Manhattan beginnings, through his theatrical career to movie stardom. It also explores his relationships with his wife Billie, and Studio boss Jack Warner, as well as his struggles with his 'tough guy' typecasting.
