Why see Linda Vista?

Tony Winner Tracy Letts' Sharp New Tragicomedy

Following its world premiere in Chicago last year, Tracy Letts' dark tragicomedy Linda Vista comes to Los Angeles as part of the Centre Theatre Group's 2018/19 season. The Pulitzer and Tony-winning writer behind the Meryl Streep-led film August: Osage County presents a searing portrait of a midlife crisis as suffered by Wheeler, the charming, funny, self-deprecating 50 year old white male seeking a new start after the break down of his marriage.

Wheeler attempts to make sense of his collapsed life with a sense of irony and irascible, self-deprecating humour. His new start begins in the sunny climes of Linda Vista, where he meets two vastly different women. First, there's his new neighbour Minnie, a young millennial of Vietnamese descent with an abusive boyfriend. Then there's sparky life coach Jules, the more age appropriate love interest whom Wheeler's friends think is the perfect match. Will Wheeler manage to stave off the self-destruction that has haunted every major life decision and claimed his marriage? They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks...
