Phil Lesh on the road
Though the Grateful Dead laid Jerry Garcia to rest in 1995, the band's pioneering spirit lives on its in remaining members. Founding bass guitarist Phil Lesh continues to uphold their experimental legacy with his own storied solo career, a highlight of which was the creation of the San Rafael, California music venue Terrapin Crossroads.
Initially using and reinterpreting the Grateful Dead catalog as a springboard for exciting jams and live performances at the venue, the group fused their diverse musical influences, a heady mixture of rock, jazz, folk, punk, classical and psychedelic, to create new material with roots embedded in the communal and exploratory process of their progenitor.
