It was a trip having seen Gene Simmons a few months back with pretty much the SAME backing band that Ace brought with him this time . (Those guys from Nashville are AWESOME, by the way!) Loved seeing Ace do obscure Kiss classics like “Watchin You” and “Strange Ways.” Reminds me that Kiss really wrote interesting and heavy rock songs back in the day that still hold up very well. Ace has never been a great vocalist and I didn’t feel like his sense of humor shone like it could have as he rapped with the crowd between songs. I think he’s actually stronger as the guitar player (not the frontman) and his performance suffers a little when he has to sing as well. Love Ace and all things Kiss, so I can definitely overlook any weaknesses. Band really had the crowd rocking throughout! By the way, if you’ve never been to the Arcada, it is a top-notch venue. It’s a very attractive, cozy place and I don’t think there’s a bad seat in the house. I’ve attended about 15 shows here and I’m always pleased with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff here. There are great bars and restaurants just steps away, and parking is always a breeze. It’s tough to beat the Arcada as a place to enjoy a show.
