What is the story?

Dashing Prince Siegfried is urged by his mother to marry soon. She tells him he must make his choice at the upcoming royal ball. In defiance, the young man heads out to the forest to hunt where he witnesses an event that will change his life forever - the transformation of a simple swan into a beautiful woman - Odette, who is under the spell of a wicked sorcerer. The only way to break this spell is for one who has never loved before to love her. However, the sorcerer has his own designs on the Kingdom, and plots to get it with a secret weapon that looks remarkably like the innocent Odette...

So whoever said they did not have a live orchestra at the Knoxville Tennessee performance was totally incorrect this was not pre-recorded music as I said on the sixth row in front of the orchestra pit. I thought this was for the most part an outstanding performance. I have seen swan Lake in New York City and in Atlanta Georgia. This was definitely on par with the ballet in Atlanta but of course the principal dancers in New York were a little better. I went with a friend who had never been to a live ballet and we had a marvelous time. ... Read more

To those who do not know, the Dying Swan (or "death of the swan per Patricia's review) is NOT a dance in Swan Lake. It is not part of Swan Lake, but an individual solo piece. It was never part of swan lake so it was not "removed." ... Read more
