Perlman and Argerich Perform Bach and Franck
Two living legends join forces once more for a resplendent evening of Bach and Franck. Itzhak Perlman, widely held in high regard as one of the world's greatest violinists, and Maria Argerich, hailed as one of the greatest pianists of the latter half of the second century, have often made musical magic together throughout their storied careers, playing numerous rapturously received recitals.
Together they'll be performing Bach's Sonata for Keyboard and Violin, a masterclass in buoyant counterpoint and one of the first sonatas in which the keyboard was raised from mere accompaniment to true partnership with the violin. Following this, the pair will play Franck's Violin Sonata in A. The work upholds a deft balance between the violin and keyboard and is considered one of the finest sonatas ever written for the two instruments.
