Latin stars unite this August at the Bowl
Latin magic comes to the Hollywood Bowl as Cuban reggae collective Gente de Zona headline a one-off summer concert this August. Formed in 2000, the Latin Grammy-winning group have conquered the genre in a little over 15 years, cementing their position as one of Latin music's most unique groups. Translated to People of the Neighborhood, the Havana-based duo join the LA Phil, together with Benin-born singer Angelique Kidjo, who has garnered a total of six Grammy nominations, finally winning in 2007.
Drawing on inspiration from rock, pop, and soul music by Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Miriam Makeba, James Brown, and Aretha Franklin, she launched her professional career before turning 20, and even relocated to Paris, where her reputation blossomed throughout the international music scene.
