Why see Mega Nova?
Mega Nova 2016
Five giants of rock and jazz gather together at the Hollywood Bowl this August. Leading the way is Herbie Hancock, who started his career in the Miles Davies Quartet in the 1960s, and has been pushing musical boundaries ever since, synthesising jazz, funk and rock into an irresistible mix.
Joining Herbie on stage is guitar legend Carlos Santana. Recognised as one of the greatest axe-wielders on the planet, Santana first came to public attention in the sixties as the founder of his eponymous band. A star turn at the 1969 Woodstock festival made their name and Santana has been throwing out licks ever since, either leading his band or as a solo artist. His daughter Cindy Blackman Santana (who plays drums) is also on the night's bill, alongside Marcus Miller, Wayne Shorter and Booker T.
