Talent Shines despite venue

Spring Awakening is a musical that we were very familiar with, so it was nice to see this somewhat fresh take on the piece. Technical elements such as microphones, and the poles in the seating area that slightly obstruct many patron's view make the ticket prices a little too high - but the energy from the performances is wonderful. Of particular note is Moritz and Ilse (at this performance played by Robert Manion and Natalie Llerena). Our group saw the national tour of spring awakening, and the portrayals in this production are stronger, they will have you sobbing. Fresh choreography in the musical numbers also benefit the production, but some of the scene blocking is clunky (particularly in the final scene where the chorus is needlessly utilised). We would be interested to see other combinations of cast, but tickets are too expensive. There is no parking at this theatre, so uber or plan to come early. ... Read more
