It's [Oliver's] comfortable ordinariness that allows him to make such a powerful connection with the audience

Powerful true story returns to Kirk Douglas Theater this April
Back in LA by immensely popular demand, this powerful one-of-a-kind drama follows up its sell-out run with a return to the Kirk Douglas theater, opening this April. Telling the true story of a father dealing with the loss of his son in the Parkland school shooting, Guac is a stirring, funny, and cathartic ode to love and grief in the wake of tragedy.
Manuel Oliver was just another parent dealing with the everyday stresses of raising a child. All that changed in 2018, when the victims of the Parkland school shooting included his son Joaquin, nicknamed Guac. Trying to hold on to the memories of his son, while drowning in overwhelming grief and anger, Manuel and his wife start to focus their struggles into fighting for a better world - one where other parents shouldn't have to go through the horrors that they did.
