Celebrating the 20th anniversary year since its premiere, the Tony-Award winning rock musical Passing Strange finally heads to the county it was partly set in, for the Los Angeles premiere! The comedic, dramatic, coming-of-age musical about a young black American rock musician's search for authenticity and self-discovery, is an autobiographical journey through the life of Mark Lamar Stewart a.k.a. Stew, who wrote its book, lyrics and music. Directed by fellow Tony-winner Zhailon Levingston, turn up the volume and rock out to this rip roaring musical.
A young, middle class, black African-American rock musician leaves his roots behind to head out on an international quest in search of his artistic voice and personal truth. Traveling to Europe, he gets embroiled in the hippie scenes and squats in Amsterdam and the protest-art circles in Berlin, all in the hope of using the medium of sex, drugs and rock and roll to discovering an identity for himself.
