Innovative re-telling of Persian epic comes to Pasadena in spring 2026
From the singular creative mind of Hamid Rahmanian comes an epic reimagining of the Persian tale Shahnameh, opening at the Pasadena Playhouse in spring 2026. Weaving a magical story of a young woman striving to save her lover in a world of dangerous mythical creatures, Song Of The North makes ingenious use of puppetry and animation to spellbind audiences of all ages.
Manijeh has found the love of her life in Bijan. So when Bijan is taken away from her with his life under threat, Manijeh must step out into the wide world to try and save him. A world filled with strange and dangerous mythical beasts. A world which she must use all of her strength, her wits, and her love to navigate in the hope of rescuing her beloved. Song Of the North makes use of nearly 500 puppets and innovative projected animation to bring this epic tale to life.
